    British sitcom help

    The Vicar of Dibley, surely.

Not anywhere near as shit as I'd expected.

All Gas and Gaiters was better, but that wasn't 90s of course.

        'Red Dwarf'

It was a comedy. It was a situation. It was a situation comedy.

After a shaky initial premise it also actually seemed to get better as time went on and the cast and storylines gelled.

...Until they re-introduced Kochansky! Claire Grogan is someone you should never attempt to replace under any circumstances! (Oh Claire! )

For some reason there's a big downer on here on Red Dwarf.

I think the downer comes from having Red Dwarf outliving its welcome by having one series too many. It's a bit like Only Fools And Horses, where, even if the characters retained their charm, the continuous, seemingly never-ending tide of series, episodes and feature-length specials diluted - for some, anyway - its appeal. The shark wasn't jumped, it was just a case of being on far too much for far too long.

Even the life of the party has to give it a rest sometime.

I never liked Red Dwarf. All those geeky in-jokes really grated on me.
