What are the criteria for judging terrible films?

I like Existenz, so stop it.

A film like Gamer fits the criteria for a horrid pile of crap. It's a film where its makers think they're making something really cool and brash and awesome (it fucking isn't), and they've made it for a demographic which they seem to think are video-game nerds who'll swallow any old shit as long as it moves like billy-oh and has lots of needless flashy visuals.

Made with cynicism, contempt and low art.

That's pretty much what I think about Existenz. I felt that the film thought it was playing me for a fool, but it wasn't clever enough to do so, so was doubly irritated.

I hated Office Space too, mind. Not one laugh. Not ONE.

The enthuisasm which greeted a poster for one of these sequels when we took some of my cousins to see Prince Caspian has confirmed it in my mind that my children will be locked up away from the world until they are 21.

12 minutes in to watching Skyline I was checking my watch and sure enough it was a real stinker, worse than Battlefield Earth, and that's saying something.

Always check IMDB. The duo (brothers who have their own visual effects company and worked on a few blockbusters) who directed Skyline also did Aliens v Predator 2. They protest that their work on the latter was compromised by studio pressures and intrusion, which is why it came out as the plop it was. Judging by recent criticisms of their new film, they don't have that defence anymore.

                Criteria? Simple.

                Is Julia Roberts in it?
