        If the boom keeps getting Boomier in Ireland I can see that chateau semi style catching on in parts of County Dublin.

          OMG! That Chateaunaff development is the most hilariously, hideously tacky thing I've seen in a long time. Aerial video of the full horror here:

            I love the way this looks like those photos of paramilitary weapon caches that the police would show during the Troubles.

              Oh, then you're in for a treat when I find that National Geographic article on the mansions of Chechnyan* oligarchs.

                  Jesus fucking Christ. That's not Photoshopped. Well allow me to be the first to apologize to our new Cow overlords for any unpleasantness that might have happened over the years, and let this be the beginning of a new era of prosperity and co-operation between humans and bovines everywhere.

                        That's nowhere near Chechnya, WOM. it's a Roma community in a small town in Romania. And yes, there's some very tasteless stuff (the big dollar sign on page 3 possibly being the worst thing in any of the photos), but it's not as comic as the collection of hundreds of mini chateaux all squashed up together like a starter home estate. I mean, you can imagine plenty of people who are a bit short on taste liking that stuff in Buzescu. I honestly can't get my mind around the idea that anyone would want to live in that Turkish development if they had the option of living pretty much anywhere else.

                          The case of Ballybrack utd in Ireland's Leinster senior league is something else.
                          It'll be all over news sites but the facts are.;
                          Ballybrack ask for last Saturday's game against Arklow town to be postponed because one of their players was killed in a motorbike accident on Thursday night after training.
                          The league agree, put a sympathy notice in the newspaper and arrange for minutes silence at all games on Saturday.
                          Then it gets WTF; first the league asks for details of the funeral so they can send representatives, "you can't " said the club "he was Spanish and his body went home this morning "
                          Smelling something awry the league checked further and found out the player went back to Spain five weeks ago and is alive and well.
                          Ballybrack secretary has since resigned and the club has said it will accept any punishment the league sees fit.
                          Had Ballybrack merely given a walkover, they'd have lost the points and been fined €100.

                                          No doubt, then, that the friends the Godmother didn't want witnessing this scene will be delighted to see it splashed all over a national newspaper.

                                            Just so that we are on the same page, there is a TV show, here, called "God friended me".

                                            (Also, I have been inducted into a Taiwanese soap opera. I can't understand a fucking word, but everyone looks pretty, and it keeps 'Im indoors happy. All that matters, really.)

                                            If I'm honest, they love a bit of 'over-arched' eyebrow.

                                                  Also, that 'nun' -article, almost gave 'Im indoors, death by laughter.

                                                    The letters in the previous Private Eye are full of irate, apparently not ironic, letters from people cancelling their subscription over a cover that was rude about the queen. Private Eye, the satirical, ostensibly anti-establishment magazine that takes the piss out of the royal family on a regular basis. WTF?
