Jaysus. The only bit that isn’t hellish is teachers consuming alcohol on a school trip. Was too poor to go to Paris etc, but the teachers all got blootered by all accounts (and let the 16-18 year olds drink beer). But that was a different world I suppose.

My daughter is away on a school trip at the moment. Last night they were taken to a winery. She's in the 12th grade so most of them are probably 18, but it's still an interesting place to take a group of kids in your charge.

(A couple of years ago they had a class party. The form teacher was there and told them that he didn't mind if they drank, but he didn't want anyone to get drunk, which I suspect shows a fundamental lack of understanding of 16 year olds in general)

By the way, this trip ended in drink related scandal that is still being played out. And it wasn't the students but the teacher. It really is a huge deal. (In the UK I'd say he'd be sacked, and here it might be the same, though it depends on how much the parents kick off)
