You have two sets of wheels as well as two sets of tyres?

I got mine done a couple of weeks ago and later that day one of the wheels started making an ominous noise. Managed to get the mechanic who lives down the road to look at it in the evening... They'd forgotten to tighten all the nuts on the front right wheel.

Ah you answered my question as I was asking it

Do you use two sets of rims, or just flip the rubbers over each spring/fall?

Last year, both front wheels rattled loose on Mrs WOM's car. Had to retighten both by hand as soon as I heard the ominous noise. (whup whup whup...like a helicopter, for those who haven't had the pleasure).

Just change the tyres. Only one set of wheels

Southern Ontario is notorious for using highly corrosive road salt. Everyone here pops for sacrificial steel wheels so save their 'good' rims. The steels tend to look like they're 15 years old after maybe four winters.

I see. That's all completely new to me.

It's one of the joys of late fall/early winter: lining up at Costco at 7 a.m. to get one of their 'first come first served' spots for snow tire flip-over. But if you just spent a grand on a new set of four, they'd be pleased to schedule you online. <kicks wall>.

Here you can book in even for a change. (not at Costco obviously). I used to queue up at 8 but these days it's a piece of cake

Ugh. You have to keep them in the garage the whole rest of the year and then schlep them over to the store to be switched out, right?

Buried in the back corner, stacked 8-high (two cars), then dragged out, trekked over, 2 hours for the swap-over....then you do the other car later that week. And then put the summer tires in the same back corner, stacked 8-high.

Plus, the two annual trips to Reg's for rustproofing.

                      It's just so....

[Oh, but garages will be happy to store your off-season tires...for $100 for a set of four, per season. So $200 a year. For some, I'm sure it's money well spent.]

I should get a set of snows for the Volvo. But I'm not expecting to drive outside the lower mainland this Winter, so I'll probably hold off. And — as you say — there's the storage. I'll be buggered if I keep them in my darkroom as my co-habitant suggests.

Called the recovery truck and he said the kits very rarely work, but he managed to re-inflate the tyre with his professional version. Enough to get us home, about three miles, but it was flat again by morning. Recovery guy escorted us home as he wasn't confident his pro version would last the distance.

Then we had to buy another of those kits as apparently they are a legal requirement for cars with no spare (UK).

                              Never again!
Shit? Really? I've never replaced mine as it’s absolutely useless

That's what the recovery guy told us. Though google doesn't think so. It seems it's not a legal requirement to carry a spare, so I can't believe it would be a legal requirement to carry a repair kit. From here -
In the UK it is not a legal requirement to carry a spare tyre, but it is advisable. If you do have one remember to carry out these safety checks on that one too, although legally if it is stowed away then it doesn’t need to be up to legal standards – it just makes sense to keep it that way.
Looks like recovery guy was talking bollocks. Guess we should have checked before paying for a replacement. Live'n'learn.

My sister and I had to go to a lawyer a few weeks ago to settle some estate stuff. The lawyer calls in some articling student:

'Felipé...can you please make me two copies of this [a two-page document]?'

                                    'Sure!'

About five minutes later, he comes back and hands him four sheets of paper.

                                    'Felipé, where are the originals?'

'They're in the out-tray on the copier. These are the copies. I'll go back and get the originals now.'

Later, he asked Felipé to put the office legal seal on some stuff, which he returned without having done that one thing.

                                    'Oh, the seal. Right...'

Now, when anything goes wrong, our shorthand is "Oh, Felipé..."

We had one of those. The cub wouldn't let us near him with it.
It has a filter in it so no snot reaches your gob. You suck gently and the snot goes into a reservoir.
Babies can't blow their own noses, you see, and they can't use Oxymetazoline either.

You think that's gross? I know of parents who've had to do similar without the "nasal aspirator", sucking out the snot and then spitting it out, of course, if they really loved their child...
