    England vs Germany... again

Germany will lose, I fear, but Kurt has won the propaganda war with The Sun already.

Germany will be loving it too. And there will be all the usual talk about 1966 - Das Wembley Tor. You know that most Germans think that final ended 3-2?
Germany lost 2-2, actually. When the fourth was scored, there where people on the pitch who thought it was all over. That useless fool Dienst shouldn't have allowed that goal.

I'll go to the Fan Park wearing my WSC third goal t-shirt:

It really should have been 2-1 to England, because there was a clear handball in the build-up to Germany's last minute equaliser.

        England vs Germany... again

Should be a cracking Sunday afternoon's entertainment, whatever the outcome.

To spice things up a little, maybe the respective FAs should arrange to have both sides play in retro 1930s strips:

            10 points that man.
            Wasn't someone also offside?

              England-Germany.

Let's hope football is the winner!

Seriously, I've watched 31 games in 12 days, for the love of Jah just let it be good.

Or maybe we could avoid this kind of unpleasant shit completely on here in the run-up to the game?

This could be England's ultimate fantasy World Cup, now. Beat Germany on penalties, then knock Argentina out (with John Terry punching the ball into the net), Portugal in the semi-finals with Cristiano Ronaldo getting sent off, then beat Brazil 3-0 in the final.

Hahahahahah. No, of course not, Germany will drub us 3-0.

I've watched that equaliser in slo-mo, and can't see a clear handball offense. And it absolutely was not offside.

                      England vs Germany... again

I've seen in two places this morning the suggestion that if Schweinsteiger doesn't play then England are favourites. On what planet? Germany are better in every position (arguably the left backs are as good as one another), and are a far far better sum of those parts. I cannot for a moment imagine England (a) scoring and (b) preventing Germany scoring at least 3.

The lumbering centre backs are going to be ripped apart by Ozil, Muller, Podolski and co.

The planet where Germany don't actually have any other defensive midfielders?

And you can't seriously think that Ashley Cole is not better than Badstuber or (playing out of position) Boateng? Did you see what Krasic did to Badstuber?

Terry and Upson are indeed lumbering, but any more than Vidic and Subotic or the Mensah society?

Cholo's referring to Lahm I expect, who is naturally left sided.

I was indeed referring to Lahm, who I think of as a left back.

Well, England will have a clear advantage in which ever full back role Lahm doesn't take.

In a previous tournament, didn't Lahm have an absolute shocker, and got Germany knocked out almost single-handed?

I just hope England don't feel too sorry for the Germans and play to their full potential. Germany must be thinking "surely it got to be our turn". After all:
Last game between the two sides, Germany 1-2 England, freindly, Berlin 2008
Last competitive match, Germany 1-5 England, WC qualifier, Munich 2001
Last tournament match, Germany 0-1 England, European championships, Charleroi 2000
Even I'm beginning to feel a bit sorry for them.

Seriously though, those results should allay the myth that the German team is some all conquering Goliath. A look back over recent and historical results show the teams to be fairly equal, at least within 90 minutes. It's just that Germany seem so much stronger because they have been so much more successful in tournaments, sometime beyond expectation, when England have frequently failed to live up to theirs.
England are easily capable of raising their game and beating Germany, maintaining that level over the next three matches is a completely different kettle of fish, though.
