Yeah, I can't help thinking this fella got his tactics wrong.

A far more effective insult would have been not to start a thread with MsD's name in the title, I reckon. She craves this shit.

Someone has a wellfounded inferiority complex and too much time on their hands.

I'm off to a meeting with aforesaid NGO then to Shoreditch House with Marco, Siobhan Fahey and a few other ex popstar friends.

      Knock yourselves out.
Those first two paragraphs work so well together.

        I don't, actually, I really think it's tiresome.

But the "bigging myself up" is a response to the people who just put down, down, down ..

I've come face to face, or rather, I've towered over, several of the people who love to write really nasty abuse about me and without exception they have scuttled away sheepishly.

I might be a lot of things but I am not a coward, nor am I two-faced. Everyone I have a beef with, I take it up with them directly. Nor do I confuse online debate with personal attacks, unless they are the latter.

In which case you do confuse them?

Look, you have your own name on Google Alert. The week you don't receive a ping, or a ding, or a whatever noise it makes, or doesn't make, is the day you are no longer relevant. And there's nothing worse than no longer being relevant. Ask Woody from Toy Story.

And I can say all this full in the knowledge I haven't got the faintest clue what I'm on about.

I lost count of the number of people who claimed (or it was claimed about them) to have stratospheric IQs, where my reaction was '??' I don't doubt it in your case, though. you're also hilarious, so that's a high FQ. You're a one-two punch of smarts and shtick.

No, I made an error, I'm in a hurry, sorry.

I'm not exactly paranoid, am I? I've had several spoof MySpace accounts made by this person and a couple of others, poison pen PMs on here, and now this.

The same little crew are up the arse of anyone with any "famous" connections at all, btw, but what is one person's "witness to history" is another's "self-aggrandisement".

Yes, I'm a socialite, yes I'm also involved in politics. I have tons of faults and weaknesses but I don't parade them in public. This seems to really annoy a few people, but I have plenty of real-world friends I've kept for decades, I'm friendly with all my exes, so I can't be that much of a total monster, eh.

As for my looks, I'm looking bloody good for 50 and none of the TalkPunk "refugees" will be winning any beauty contests at any point, I assure you.

Anyway, I'm off to the Plough Caff for a meeting with a big brekkie. Then I'm going to the Mag for a cider or two with Bendy Dave, Toby No Knuckles and a few other ex-inmate friends.

I've no idea what my IQ is, to be truthful. It was good when tested at age 11 (nowhere near a darts maximum, but a handy snooker break), but a lot of brain cells have been drowned in beer since then.

How do you get to be a socialite? Do you need money? Because in my circles, going out all the time, and making sure you're seen and heard? Well that's just being a loud, boring, drunkard.

I'm tempted to have a go at an online IQ test now. I really need a job/life. I'd *love* to be a socialite.

All the online tests I've seen have a maximum score of 140-150 and could (I should think) be aced by anyone reasonably intelligent.

EIM, you get invited to lots of parties by being A Nice Person, believe it or not. I'm neither loud, not a drunkard, haven't been drunk since July and then it was quiet drunk.

And, compared to people like the OP, yeh, I'm alright. I don't go out of my way to hurt people.

What? All wingco's stuff is ironic? Bloody hell.

Do people still have IQ tests done? Why?

Surely all that IQ tests can measure is the ability to do IQ tests.

Good questions. I don't know to what extent they're still done. My understanding is they used to be administered to pretty much everyone, and I've never heard of that being remotely the case in my lifetime.

IQ measurement always struck me (from the time I could think okay for myself anyway) as a transparently harmful and counterproductive thing to be messing with. At least half the time it seemed to bear out, that the people who knew they were 'off the charts' were demotivated underachievers or 'problem kids'.

Which is not meant to be an endorsement for depressing conformity and playing by the rulebook, of course; but one of its main successes seemed to be making people more obnoxious than was absolutely necessary.
