As a follow up, there are a few things being done.
I'm pricing up an minor upgrade to the hosting to stop the forum banging off the resource limits under the heaviest load. It looks like we can handle around 650 concurrent users at any one time, but have been hitting 750 and getting those "resource limit reached" errors. This is an optional extra, so what might happen is that I put it in place for times of heavy load, such as tournaments. We'll see. I'm also keeping an eye on the bandwidth consumption - basically since the move we have used 10% of the available bandwidth, but I suspect a chunk of that was the various database upgrades. I also have a couple of options for lowering both bandwidth and resource, but having a think. No rush, especially as I am hitting a very busy time with Real Work for the next two weeks.
The OTF domain name is now transferred over to Zen, so WSC are no longer responsible for it. Renewal is due in September.
Also as a final goodbye, WSC admin accounts have been downgraded to normal user accounts.
The vBulletin licence is also being transferred over to me, there is apparently a small cost for this and I[m waiting for the invoice. This is fine, because WSC have waived any cost to reimburse the original purchase to them.
I know that people have made incredibly generous offers to cover costs, and there will be a method to contribute in the near future but right now everything is fine and I'm keeping track of costs. Once I have an idea of the extra server resource, I'll post the numbers but if you are really curious, due to the generosity of WSC and Latitude (the old hosts) for giving us licences and support for free, so far moving OTF has cost me a tenner.
