    Which side are you on....

...boys which side are you on?.....(and girls of course).

Will you welcome the soon come news from Chelsea and Westminister hospital or will you be as distraught as Tony Blair?

Ive had a few party invites already and wish I could attend them all.

    Which side are you on....

As someone posted on this topic once before, it would be a terrible shame if it doesn't happen during the football season.

          Oh that.

She'll probably hang on for years.
And die on the same day as Mandela or something.

The people cleaning the wards and making sure the heating works and the waters hot and cooking the food know more than he does. But then they always did.

Oh no she wont. This is the first time Ive bothered knocking up a "party CD" for the expected occasion.

Strangely, I almost hope she hangs on a bit longer.

Delayed gratification and all that: having been waiting 30 years for the fucking bitch to die, preferably in as slow and painful a way as possible, it's bound to be a bit of an anticlimax when it actually happens.

What are you going to do? Pull the trigger?

In which case, there'd probably be a scrap to do the deed.

In this instance, no. Absolutely not.

On the one hand, I'm looking forward to the impromptu street parties, but on the other I'm dreading the inevitable state funeral.

Not after what she did to my family, friends and hometown it isnt. Id pull the trigger, flick the switch or throw the lighted match myself.

What she did? You mean what we did. We either kept electing the old hag, or kept being so rubbish at opposition that we didn't offer an electable alternative.
This demonisation of a politician who did exactly what they were mandated to is frankly rather boring and pathetic. Sure she was a vindictive, horrible, destructive person. We got exactly what we asked for and deserved as an electorate. Now she's just a pathetic old woman. Let it go.

Here's what I posted on a similar thread on OTF Classic

See, I don't disagree with a lot of what's posted here, but I can't summon up as much personal vitriol for the woman. She was a product of time and situation to a large extent. Yes, a great many of her policies were vile. Yes the rumblings of the policies are having horrible effects on society's attitudes even now.
But we (in a general sense) allowed this to happen. The British - well mainly the English, elected her THREE TIMES. And when she was gone, we still fucking voted for her proteges, again. Then we voted for Thatcherism Lite in the form of New Labour. So I think it's a bit rich trying to blame one person for giving the country what they so obviously wanted over and over again.

Now, I'm fully aware that there are a lot of people on here who are and were active in the Labour movement and actively fought these policies. But the left fucked itself over completely in the 70's with stupid schisms and ridiculous bombast. Calling for revolution, calling for socialism, calling for communism. They were so busy trying to out-trot each other that they ignored the fact that actually, the British are pretty reactionary as a rule. They left the front door wide open. If it hadn't been Thatcher, it would have been someone else. In Thatcher the country got what it thought it wanted. The tragedy is that the Labour party especially, paid no attention to reality preferring instead dedicate itself to unilateral disarmament and in-fighting rather than showing people the damage that was being done.
I don't hate Thatcher. She is and was just a hydra. The shit that she created couldn't have been created is we hadn't allowed it to happen, both as an electorate and a political movement. It's like hating your neighbours dog for biting you because it wasn't trained or muzzled.
Whole thread is worth a read. here

Dont think I wouldnt flick the same switch that frazzled those cunts either. Im 100% in agreement with you concerning Thatcher being the fault of the left of the Labour Party, who were the centre at the time.
Which is a belief that wont go down well on here as the only place I heard anyone who wasnt 100% sure Boris Johnson was going to be elected as Major Of London was on OTF.

I've got the tressle tables and Gingham tablecloths ready for the streetparty when the old cow finally pisses on her chips.

Hers was a voice I wish never to hear again, and I'm dreading the day when she dies cos the news channels will be full of her, and her speaches for a week or more.

Everyone dies if they live long enough. I can't muster up any enthusiasm for "Ah ha ha, you right-wing cow, you failed to live for eternity!"
