Surely for martial arts you don't want to add bulk, you just want to tone up and increase general strength? That's a lot easier. Converting yourself into Arnie is a long haul, doing the machines three times a week takes effect in a couple of months.
Three times a week, though, that's the key. Twice doesn't cut it. I keep telling myself this. The difference is astonishing - that extra visit kind of tips the balance. When I go three times a week for a few months I'm as fit as a lazy smoker can be; twice a week does very little except bring out some (not much) muscle tone.
