All NI victims' families to receive £12,000?

While seeing why it probably isn't helpful to have a 'hierarchy' of deserving cases, I'd prefer the Government to spend £50 million of reconciliation funds on something that everyone can benefit from. Like hospital improvements.

    What does the panel think?

it's a bit on the stingy side isn't it? I mean the uk govt would pay full price if your house/business got burned down.

They should not bother doing this at all if they're going to dole out such a small amount of money. Twelve grand would not buy you a half-decent car.

Reaction thus far has been mainly negative. Unionist politicians, and anecdotally comment elsewhere on the web, seem to be opposed mainly on principle- that the paramilitaries' families will get the cash, rather than the sums being small in practice.
