My gran was always on a gluten free diet.

There's gluten free bread to be had.

        That's all I know.

Sorry, I was too busy eating an entire loaf of white bread.

            What was the question again?

I'll ask my sister. She was gluten free for a bit.
I think you're out of luck beer-wise though. Although you may find some info here.

Of course, wine is naturally gluten free, so it's not like you can't get lashed in style.

I've been on a sort-of gluten free diet for years (though it's an intolerance rather than actual Coeliac disease, so it's eased up with time and I can now have beer and the occasional cake... a plate of pasta would still level me, though).

It's not that bad. If you toast it, gluten free bread is very nice. Gluten free pasta is sort of OK. The coconut cookies with raspberry pieces from Morrisons are lovely. Mostly, though, you just have to eat proper food - whole foods rather than processed - which can be expensive, but is probably a good idea generally.

You're screwed for beer, though. I never found a decent gluten free beer, and it was a great relief when I could get back on the proper stuff. Although eight years of drinking wine, brandy or pear cider instead was not too painful.
