Yes, she could have solved it. She knows maths inside and out - she's a teacher whose previous career was in banking - but didn't remember she had to solve it until she was walking out the door in the morning. I / we just helped out in a pinch.
Now, the upshot of all this is that the Thermos (TM) - as it is a genuine brand Thermos, much to my surprise - is a 'cold only' model. What's the use of that? In case she want to take a bowl of Cheerios (milk in) to work for lunch?
