    Who here knows about the NCTJ thingy?

    Is it true I can do it for free if I register as unemployed?

    Some say YES! which is good.
    Others say NO which isn't good.
    Some, like me, say DON'T KNOW, which is unhelpful.

    Lambeth College, who run a course at Vauxhall, say:

    In most cases a £30 administration charge is all you will need to pay if you are over 19 and receiving certain means-tested benefits or are dependent on someone who is.

      Lambeth is where I'm looking to go. So that's good. Perhaps not so good is the fact I spent an hour or so looking through the site, and didn't find that snippet. I hope they teach mad research skillz.

                        Right, so I can't afford to pay for this course, which means I've got to register as unemployed. But then I can't register as unemployed because I don't have an address, and I can't register at the one I'm staying at as we've not been paying council tax here. So I need to get a job, to save up, to get my own place. Which means I can't register as unemployed, and get the course I can't afford for free.

                        Why are even the most simple things, ball-achingly difficult?

                          Don't you just need another address to register at? One where occupants have been paying council tax.
