    Bread! Bread now!

Big bread fan, me. Can't get enough of it. Bread and butter, or just bread on its own. Whichever. I eat bread everyday, sometimes more than once.

What's your favourite type of bread?

Braces medium white sliced is the chap for your standard lunchtime sandwich.

Otherwise it´s Tiger Bread or Hedgehog Bread from Sainsbury or Morrisons respectively.

I am TOTALLY a bread man, have been ever since I was a bread boy.

Oh, my favorite type is a tie between southern U.S. style buttermilk biscuits and genuine (that's gen-you-whine) French baguettes.

Poilane sourdough or caraway seed rye, I think, assuming I'm not allowed things like croissants.

Bread is bloody fantastic, though. I think I would go insane without bread-product.

By a complete coincidence, one of Europe's premier fashion fairs, held annually in Barcelona, is called "Bread and Butter".

Here's one of the displays of trainers from last year's show:

How odd. Normally, introducing trainers into a thread makes it go on for pages and pages. Here, it seems to have been a thread-killer.

Back to the lab on this mystery...

                Nike are shit, AG.

Sainsbury's used to do a savoury wheel. It was fucking amazing. A circle of bread, covered in cheese, onions, and tomato. I long for the days when they stocked it.

Seems like the sort of thing you could DIY fairly easily.

You'd need to have some serious stitching skills for the uppers and some good material for the soles, it's not as easy as it looks.

My wife makes fabulous, fairly healthy buttermilk scones, if anyone wants the recipe.

A good German-style sourdough bread... with Zwiebelmettwurst... I could live on that.

And Pumpernickel. With a cheese like Port Salut. Fantastic.

                                    Bread! Bread now!

I'm addicted to bread. Toast, mostly. With enormous amounts of butter. It's largely to blame for my pear-like physique.

I once almost applied for a job at Agriculture Canada as their official Bread Taster. Bascially, the job involved sampling breads from around the world, and from there advising Canadian farmers what kinds of cereals they would need to grow in order to export to that country, given their bread predilictions. It was genius.

Then I figured I might die of malnutrition eating only bread all the time (as I inevitably would) and didn't apply.

                                    Would have died happy, though.

And watching that video, it is frankly incomprehensible how this came about. By Christ, he looks like an ugly version of me when I was about nineteen, and that's really going some.

I like a poppy seed kaiser roll. Or a nice bit of granary. The common theme here is I like a bit of texture on the way out as well.

Not strictly bread but I had one of M&S new posh Italian range pizzas (5£ and it's on special offer...) and the dough was a treat.

They have this kind of buttery bread here, it looks like a cholla loaf more than anything, it's loverly. Like a croissant/brioche type taste with the lovely fibrous tear of cholla.

                                                Nan Bread
                                                A decent Baguette

                                                Hmm. I spelled naan incorrectly.

It's called "Tresse" which means "plait" because it looks like one, proper breakfast stuff that! Try a "delice" in a bakery if you like that kind of texture, a savoury version with butter in it.
