    An Oceanic spring?

The New Caledonian referendum has been getting considerable attention in recent days, but it appears two further plebiscites will be held in Oceania in 2019. Firstly, the long-standing contentions between Bougainville and New Guinea will probably be resolved through the independence of the former, and none other than Bertie Ahern is chairman of the Referendum Commission there. Then, the political action switches to the State of Chuuk, which has ambitions of secession from Micronesia, so perhaps ad hoc has some inside knowledge on that campaign.

I hope your use of “resolved” proves prescient. In the time I’ve been down here nothing positive seems to have been resolved if it relates to the island of New Guinea.
