    I'd never heard it until it started being used about airbnb type holiday rentals. That sounds like it's actually not as comprehensive as ursus suggests normal usage is, even if it's more literally correct.

        Our head office folk, and various IT etc. suppliers, use "turnkey" but a single word. I always read itmas "turkey" and ease the annoyance by leaving it that way in my head.

        See also "bolt -on" used to describe the acquisition of a small business requiring no additional staff or infrastructure. I choose to read this as "Bolton".
