Anyone bought the last ever print edition of the Grauniad today?

It's just the size of the paper that's changing isn't it?

There seem to be quite a few changes to the website too.

Nice shades of blue replaced by gawdy and bold text in orange and red.

Maybe they should have user tested that before launching it... it's horrible on the eyes.

I haven't been so angry since the Facebook redesign of autumn 2015.

They don't seem to have redesigned the app yet.

                They have. And it's unreadable.

I don't hate the new website but it looks generic and bizarrely less modern than before the redesign, like something the Telegraph would have had ten years ago. And the new font is harder to read on desktop.

Really? Looking at it on my iPad I don't see any difference.

Edit: actually, we may be talking about different apps. I mean the one in Newsstand or whatever Apple calls it these days.

I wonder if you get a clearer font if you subscribe.

My app looks the same. And it's the regular Guardian app.

Is the paper going larger or smaller?

The new logo / masthead makes it look like a local evening paper.

The dot com site looks extremely font heavy. Like everything is set in bold. Scanability is poor.

Sorry about the volume control. Screenshots are very much a hit and miss thing for me

We have thought carefully about how our use of typography, colour and images can support and enhance Guardian journalism. We have introduced a font called Guardian Headline that is simple, confident and impactful. This was a collaboration with the design experts Commercial Type, who created the original Guardian Egyptian, and is easier to read. We’re using a range of energetic colours, and the much-loved Guardian visual wit and style remain at the heart of the look. The masthead has a renewed strength and confidence to represent the Guardian’s place and mission in these challenging times.

The colours are certainly energetic. A bit shouty, even.

                                          Daily Mash:

THE Guardian’s new, no-nonsense masthead is puzzled as to why it is ‘sitting on top of a lot of namby-pamby bollocks’.

Christ, the website looks awful. How do you make a new masthead look so out of date?

It's also 17MB for a homepage page without adverts. I know they aren't the only people guilty of page bloat but still...

Edit: all the white space reminds me of the otf "upgrade" that prompted the move to this place.

They seem to be trying to differentiate from other tabloid papers by having the paper's title ("The Guardian") off to right side of the page.

Have they not stopped to think why all tabloid newspapers either have their title across the top or over to the left?
