Currently suspended Tory MP for Dover responds.

          @CharlieElphicke
Boris is right - We must invest in infrastructure to keep trade flowing between Britain and France. Let's start by dualling the A2 to Dover, building the Lower Thames Crossing and lorry parks on the M20
He can almost hear the Labour candidate at the next election. "Instead of fantasizing about bridges across the channel, we'll get X, Y and Z done".

Though I'd be tempted to tell him he can have his A2 dualling or Hard Brexit lorry parks, not both.

Like a slapstick comedian repeatedly stepping on a rake to diminishing returns of hilarity, the BBC news department decides that Johnson's latest self serving, substance free guff is the most pressing story of the day.

Not sure it's Johnson that's the story there so much as the PM and Chancellor telling him to fuck off. They used to lead the news everyday on this sort of stuff when Brown and Blair were in charge.

Johnson might be preparing a flounce. If May gets forced into a Soft Brexit, he's ready to take her down. And when the markets pick up and Hammond spends a bit more on the NHS, Johnson can say "I've been arguing this for some time".

They had the comments as the lead before and have updated it to include the reaction, so were anticipating the story having legs at least. Blair and Brown was some time ago and I was under the impression that various unexpected poll results in the mean time had caused our top analysts and commentators to query whether they were too inwardly focussed upon the internal machinations of the political classes.

Sorry, wasn't meaning to sound prissy with you, Tubby. It's just that every so often the pointless, narcissistic shitbaggery of our hero and his hall of mirrors milieu becomes a bit overwhelming.

Well, now that the top two in the government have told "Boris" to fuck off, the story is fourth on the UK section of the BBC.

If it was top earlier, that looks very odd indeed, Benjy.

Ha ha, Hammond called him "Mr Johnson".

Almost enough to make me forget lives are at stake.

Not charging Hard Brexit mates the £6,000 fee for using the Foreign Office.

Apparently his hearing yesterday on the Garden Bridge did not go well.

I saw the report on BBC London News last night and it was a typical Boris performance with an attack on Sadiq Khan to finish. I'd summarise what he said as, "we've blown 45 million quid on it so far so let's spunk a load more money on it and get the job done. "

He's not quite had the hold over BBC London that he has had over the rest of the BBC (Eddie Mair honourably excepted). He got caught saying "Fuck Tim Donovan" and sent Kit Malthouse in to do his pre-election interview in 2012, without providing a proper explanation.

Great takedown here of the appalling formerJohnson sidekick, Kit Malthouse. He's doing Johnson standard of bullshit as a social security minister.

Hitler and the 36 Olympics equals Putin and the 18 World Cup according to Boris today.

some of us have been saying that since the world cup was awarded. Now is quite late in the day to notice.

Given that almost every major international sporting event between the 1936 Olympics and now has been used as a big propaganda exercise by the hosts - including the London Olympics - all Johnson's done here is directly compare Putin to Hitler. Dwell on that a moment. Our foreign secretary has just compared the leader of a permanent member of the UN security council to Adolf Hitler.

...and one who leads a country that, let's say, lost just a few people fighting the Nazis.

For such a supposedly educated man, he really is a fuckwit of the absolute highest order. As many have pointed out on Twitter etc, that Eton certainly does churn out some destructive dimwits.

Just because it's politically convenient for Johnson to say this right now, or the searing hypocrisy of the statement, doesn't make it any less true.
