Apparently, spaghetti Bolognese is, literally, an urban myth.

No more so than Chop Suey or Chow Mein. It is very much a thing, just not something from Bologna.

        Much more depressingly

Decisions by two appeal judges to grant lighter sentences to men convicted of femicide have further exposed deeply rooted cultural stereotypes within the Italian judiciary system and wider society.

In the first case, a judge in Bologna ruled in early March that an “emotional storm” brought on by “unhappy life experiences” had motivated Michele Castaldo, 57, to murder Olga Matei, 46, a month into the couple’s relationship, and so reduced his jail term from 30 years to 16.

In a Genoa court last week, another judge, Silvia Carpanini, halved the prison sentence given to Javier Gamboa for stabbing his wife, Angela Reyes. Capanini said she sympathised with the “disappointment” and “humiliation” Gamboa felt when his wife failed to keep a promise to leave her lover.

Two of Silvio's Forza Italia boys (an MEP candidate and a regional councilor) have just been picked up in a major anti-Mafia "blitz" in Lombardy.

The fellow on the other side of Thatcher is Ciriaco De Mita, who was the Italian Prime Minister when the photo was taken at the Toronto G7 summit in 1988 (and a Christian Democrat power broker for decades).

He was just re-elected to his second term as mayor of the town in Campania in which he grew up.

                  He turned 91 in February.

If I understand this correctly, mini-BOTs are happening.

So as to reduce the amount of time public entities have been taking to pay private enterprises.for goods and services.

What was that about Pietro and Paolo?

Hmmm, the motion itself doesn't seem to really match up with that summary:

                          https://www.camera.it/leg18/410?idSe...ag=allegato_a#

There's talk of offsetting tax receipts and amounts owed, but not as far as I can tell fully fledged mini-BOTs, or the securitisation mentioned in the piece. Maybe it was amended?

                          Comment

The first piece was clearly a Forza Italia press release, so I'm not shocked that it may have over-egged the actual situation,

Presumably, Brussels would have something to say about mini-BOTs

The article text seems to be reflected in this version of the motion.

                              https://aic.camera.it/aic/scheda.htm...&ramo=C&leg=18

Not sure which is newer, frankly. The debate seemed to suggest the first one I posted, but the dossier suggests the latter.

I tried to find out what a minibot was. I am still as confused as when I started. What is the scam that they are trying to pull?

                                  Comment

A fully fledged miniBOT is a government IOU usable like cash, so they'd basically be creating non-euro legal tender, which is a big no-no for obvious reasons. It's not clear if this would be the outcome though, as the motion is very vague, it just talks about "small government bonds", which is literally what a "mini-BOT" is, in the context of amounts owed to companies by the government.

Ah, so it's a junk bond that already seems to be smouldering when you get it? They're taking the piss here aren't they?

Yes, the Telegraph were describing it as a "parallel currency", which seemed highly improbable in an ECB context.
