    Law and Injustice

The worrying slide towards autocracy in Central Europe continues in Poland, where PM Kaczynski has sought to introduce parliamentary control over the country's judicial system. Brussels looks set to issue an official warning against Warsaw, however an official penalty would require unanimity, and old OTF favourite Viktor Orban naturally objects to such a move:

Duda is vetoing the judicial takeover. Parts of it, anyway.

I'm encouraged by the scale of public protests against that move.

        Me too.

I see that Law and Justice have had some success with tax collection, which surprises me. No doubt from here it's down hill as "common sense" economics takes over.

Sadly, the price of pistachios is rather high tonight:

Turnout is up across the country, though moreso in the Northwest, which has recently been an opposition stronghold.

We are likely to see stark geographic differences in results again.
