    Edward Elgar, and all that

So, off to London tomorrow, and find I've a few out-of-date twenties. Will a bank happily exchange them?

What makes them out of date? Currency hasn't changed has it?

They've been out of circulation for a few years so you may have to take them in to the Bank of England itself. Could be worse if you're in London anyway, I suppose.

Yes, any officially-issued UK banknotes will remain legal tender forever at the Bank of England itself. Looks like you may have to take a jaunt to Threadneedle Street while you're in London, DR.

I see St. Paul's is right beside it, which is a convenient excuse.

Yeah but the entrance fee is disgustingly steep, £18 to get in last time I tried, 2 years ago.

I gave it a miss and went to drown my sorrows in the nearby Black Friar pub, a gem of a place, highly recommended: https://www.fluidlondon.co.uk/venue/city_of_london/the_blackfriar_ec4v).

The Black Friar is indeed worth a look. I mean, it's usually packed, but the interior is cool.

Several OTF types work round that way* too, so you might get a mini 'thon on the go.

              *Possibly me too

Cor, the Blackfriar does look like something. Do they have cider? If so I might pop in for a look in July/August...

Banks (i.e. "High Street" banks) change and accept them, don't they?

I don't know, I've never tried taking a pint of cider into a bank...
