It won't be Tusk making the decision though, it'll be the EU27. And some countries, France in particular, appear to be sick of the UK. I still fear that those determined to vote May's deal down in favour of a softer Brexit/referendum, are in danger of assuming a bit too much.

Indeed. Let's hope that the EU27 don't let their frustrations with the UK override their desire to support Ireland.

8 days to go. And we are now in a situation where the person most responsible for the fact that we're so close to the deadline, and the one who's been totally intransigent on her "red lines" is now blaming everyone else for this utter clusterfuck. What a truly appalling state of affairs, what a terrible lack of leadership, what an awful awful fuck up this is. If MI5 were actively involved in trying to bring down the Wilson government why the fuck are they sitting on their hands now? The UK is about to fall off a fucking cliff.

The Revoke petition cleared 600,000 earlier this morning and now, 'Petitions is down for maintenance. Please try again later.'

It's a measure of the Government's entirely deserved low standing that their having pulled the plug on purpose doesn't seem a cranky assumption to make.

It it is Tusk's statement on a shorter extension that the British media are inaccurately extrapolating to "It's May's deal or No Deal" though. Pointing out that he didn't rule out the other option of a longer extension (even if he didn't and can't guarantee one) is worthwhile.

I saw speculation that taking May's deal back with the short extension attached may be enough of a change for Bercow to allow it.

Why is there always such a disparity of numbers when pro-Brexit and anti-Brexit stuff happens? We know there a lot of Leavers out there but have they given up supporting the project properly or is it just a case of complacency and certainty about the outcome...?

This account has been reporting on Brexit in a way that western media would report on the political situation of an African country....It is quite brilliant, the last one has ceased to be a parody imo.....

Maybe they're hiding underground like the cold war swiss.

The pricks who voted down the amendment that would have allowed indicative votes to take place this week are extremely culpable right now. It's far more likely the EU would have been friendly to extension if those votes were already in motion rather than having to wait for May's downfall to play out.

I do think revoke rather than extend makes far more sense given that there is no coherent plan to give to the EU yet. Start the clock from scratch when you have a plan, ratified by a second referendum. No need for May's agreement to be on the ballot if Labour are in government, as they will have reached a new one with the EU.

May could have carried on letting parliament infighting about Brexit for five years if she hadn't triggered Article 50. That was even dumber than Cameron's decision to hold the referendum.

If she hadn't triggered Article 50, she would have been monstered as a Secret Remainer by the hardline press (which then included both of the Mails and was more red in tooth in general) and might very well have lost the leadership.

Indeed. Yet again, the country hoist on the petard of the fucking Tory party's fundamental split. And still the cunts get voted for.
