You see. This is why it's all Corbyn's fault.

She said that they wanted to restore the common Travel area (which hadn't gone anywhere) and accepted that leaving the single market meant the end of free movement, (which is the wrong way around) But that the bill needed to be amended. As though that means anything any more.

The Guardian has had a story up for an hour and a half and have given it at least three different headlines so far.
"Brexiter MPs back away..."
"Theresa May splits Tories..."
And another one I've forgotten already.
Jacob Rees-Mogg says ERG will not back Brady amendment but other Brexiters waver

Scottish Labour membership has apparently halved since last year (though they are v cagey on how many actual members exist for Slab). This should help see to their extinction as a campaigning force outside bussing in "volunteers".
Labour's logic is they want to amend the bill in committee. I've not heard any rationale from anyone supportive of the leadership except Skwawkbox (and the Spectator, lol) who went with "Labour was trying to signal to working class voters in the north that they hear their concerns about the exploitation of immigrants" - a very roundabout way of saying """legitimate concerns""".
It's not clear whether a stronger labour whip could have defeated the bill - only two tories rebelled in the end. But it's incredibly disappointing.Last edited by Bizarre Löw Triangle; 29-01-2019, 09:11.
