We are heading straight into a disaster of epic proportions. I genuiny hope this will result in the likes of IDS and Rees-Moog hanging from lamposts...

        EORI: 69,000 / 240,000
        TSP: 17,400 / 240.000

Whatever businesses think of Brexit or the insanity of No-Deal they need to get on this. https://t.co/vj9ZarGj7P https://twitter.com/DmitryOpines/sta...639433729?s=17

So Watson says Labour must unequivocally come out for Remain.

Strange what he was saying just before the referendum.

almost as if staying in the EU were less important than weakening Jeremy Corbyn

Or maybe Watson position has evolved since 2016....which would be nice since FoM has been a dirty word in all kind of Labour circles since the referendum inc within the Holy Beard inner sanctum...

Attacking Freedom of Movement a week before the Referendum - that was really going to get Labour votes.

It's irresponsible. Meanwhile the "holy Beard" (my how amusing) was campaigning hard for remain

If Corbynistas don't want Tom Watson to Tom Watson, they shouldn't have elected him Tom Watson. That said, as MomentumRetweetTalkingPoints go, this is weak tea.

I think it's shocking to be reminded quite how half-hearted the support for remain from the Watson wing was in 2016.

                        Don't you?

Did you all raise concerns about Freedom of Movement in the week before the referendum to show your commitment to Stronger In?,

I think that if I had, it would have had pretty much as big an impact and be as worth bringing up now as when Watson did it.

Raising concerns about FoM and immigration in general was pretty much all that was taking place before the referendum and indeed even more so after the referendum when Labour jumped as one behind "let's end FoM to win back our legitimate concerns bigots in marginals" mantra...

If now some Labour figures want to put that behind, good but you know...bit late really.

It would be a more effective talking point if Corbyn's Labour were not now opposed to FoM. Though I know its something we're supposed to know Jeremy isn't actually in favour of or something.

He was the 'best' of a very uninspiring, right-leaning bunch, but we are where we are.

He was notoriously the most Machiavellian, and was most famous as the person who brought down Blair. Your lot could have made a less predictably destructive choice.

As I said at the time.

A fair point LW. Though having just reminded myself of the candidates, and trying to put myself back in that time and mindset, I'm still not sure that I wouldn't vote for him again. More fool me.

I dunno, I'm not a member. I was screaming at loads of socialists joining Labour to vote for Corbyn that they shouldn't be supporting any one of those scumbags.

From a very bad bunch, it's a shame Rushnara Ali didn't get enough nominations. Looking at the motley bunch of people who did nominate her reminds us how different a world 2015 was.

Roberta Blackman-Woods, Paul Blomfield, Lyn Brown, Dawn Butler, Julie Cooper, Jeremy Corbyn, Clive Efford, Fabian Hamilton, Helen Hayes, Tristram Hunt, Rupa Huq, Sadiq Khan, Seema Malhotra, John Mann, John McDonnell, Chi Onwurah, Teresa Pearce, Matthew Pennycook, Yasmin Qureshi, Dennis Skinner, Andy Slaughter, Keir Starmer, Chuka Umunna

I think Watson won because he was vocally anti-Murdoch.
