Great example of industry jargon last night on Channel 4 News (7-8 pm), May at the CBI conference with her big speech and her grand plans to stop those awfully-entitled EU migrants "from jumping the queue".

A C4 journalist interviewed a CEO exec about EU staff retention and he replied: "[…] some of our EU staff have sought some certainties for themselves." (it’s at 10’26 if you can find the programme).

In plain English: those EU staff have fucked off abroad.

the trouble is that the electoral system demands both a popular front and the readiness to work together and also rewards the quick knife in the back. when 5000 votes either way between SNP and Labour can change several seats in parliament.

Yep but youse look to be on the slide under Leonard and Laird’s woecious “leadership”. Youse are more likely to lose than gain Scottish seats from a snap election. And if mitigating Brexit means working with the Nats, youse should do it and ignore the Findlayite faction. Too much of U.K. Labour seems to regard Scotland as still their natural feifdom, that voters just need a bit of prodding to “come home to Labour”. And that’s the attitude that’s helping doom ye.

Labour are fucked in Scotland. Richard Leonard and Leslie laird are useless(they do half their anti SNP campaigning on issues that are reserved to Westminster). This has not translated into better polls for Slab, indeed youse seem to be losing ground. The Neil Findlay Lexit arsewipe faction at Holyrood is probably a liability, though he seems to be Jeremy’s Man In Embra.

Labour can’t seem to help themselves in regarding Scotland as Labour voters that have somehow erred and will return to the fold, even as the fold makes no concession to the possibility that the Union is not always a Good Thing, and that it is possible to be left and want an Indy or even Devo To The Max Scotland with properly distinctive (even conflicting) policies from the UK mob. They seem to hate the Nats more than the Tories. That’s why youse are in third place and John curtice sees youse losing more seats than gaining at the next GE.

Lesley Margaret Laird is the Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party and the MP for Kirkcaldy & Cowdenbeath. Laird narrowly defeated the sitting MP, Roger Mullin of the SNP by 259 votes.
Ah right. I hadn't heard of her.

Labour is even worse in Scotland than in England, it's true.

Mullin was a bit of a harmless auld arse that hadn’t been expected to take Slab Fortress Kdy, so no great mischief losing him from the SNP benches, but Laird is a whole new level of Pure Idiot Fife bullshit.

Interesting comment by May just now - whole UK would be bound by SM to avoid regulatory checks with NI!

It was in the Guardian live thread - GB would voluntarily agree to remain aligned to the SM during the backstop to avoid regulatory checks.

But only in the event of the backstop that should never be used. Thought she’d begun conceding on SM for a second.

I don't see anything new in what May said. It's implicit in how the backstop is structured.

Labour seem to have confused a few people by saying no backstop would be needed. Is that them backing the Single Market on withdrawal?

The spokesman said that Labour wanted to consider the deal that the government had negotiated, and then submit its “alternative Brexit plan” at the time of the meaningful vote. Under that party’s plan the UK would remain in “a comprehensive customs union” with the EU which would “make unnecessary largely any kind of backstop arrangement”.
Sounds like the same old cake they've been peddling for months.

Is Corbyn an establishment Mole? A double agent with the mission to first embarrass the Left, and then incapacitate the labour Party?

Another week of this and I'll be looking for people to prove unprovables.

Sturgeon's position at least seems more consistent than Corbyn's - push for an EEA + CU relationship if the Commons will allow, and then for a second referendum if that proves impossible.

Norway plus customs is the only alternative to May’s deal the EU would be willing to entertain. Which is why I think Labour will reject it in favour of more Racist Cake.

Tell them how you tried to unsuccessfully tried to dictate terms to a lender of last resort, when the previous democratically elected Greek Govts hadn't lived up to the terms of previous loans.
