I've no idea who he is.

He was very supportive of a zebra crossing being put outside a primary school.

Sounds good, but I fear Brexit could be a step up.

                    Unlikely, DR

His father was a trade union official, and his mother worked in the civil service

Fucking hell. The chinless wonder stood for the Tories in Lancaster in 2001. He probably would have won, but he invited Maggie Thatcher to come and campaign for him, which reminded lost of people who had hitherto been unimpressed at the pace of progressive social change under Blair that the Tories were the biggest pack of cunts in town.

Ah, Barclay had been Health Minister before. Still quite a jump.

See this is the problem with the UK. "I'm not happy with the Labour party, but I need to be confronted with the rotting walking corpse of Margaret Thatcher to remember that the Tories are monsters. Because I'd forgotten."

                                RC, it is the FT.

Corbyn is not their favourite person.

Presumably he means that a Corbyn government dealing with the savage consequences of a no-deal Brexit wouldn't be able to do anything to help and therefore the kind of soft socialism that Corbyn's Labour represents would be discredited indefinitely. I understand that fear but surely the country can't afford to stick with the Conservatives?
Surely there's no parliamentary majority for hard-Brexit.

We don't need a parliamentary majority for it. It just happens.

Yes, it's the default position, but surely a cross-party alliance would push through a referendum bill if/when the WA is rejected?

I was initially quite impressed by Ben Bradshaw speaking German on German television yesterday. But only initially. "Brexit ist tot", he said, with the requisite hand movements and intonation. Like, with all due respect and everything, I could have said that in German, and it would still have been (dot dot dot), well, nothing at all.

If May were a real human being and a real leader she'd fuck over the Brexit cunts pack the cabinet with the Tory centre and push for Norway. But she still feels that her biggest job is to try and reconcile the tory party

On Thursday most Brexiters who spoke to the Guardian said they would not change their minds. “We’re better off leaving,” said McAllister’s colleague Julie Slynn. She pointed out a Polish shop opposite and another one a couple of doors up. “There are too many foreigners around here. I reckon you hear four Polish to every two English when you walk around. They are taking our jobs, getting the houses. That’s one of the main reasons I voted for Brexit.”
Wellington, Salop where the population is 66% Polish.
