Yeah, do we know why he sang this part of the announcement?

Would the Supreme Court really let him get away with this, even with its current make up?

My guess is that Mitch has spoken to Roberts and Gorsuch about this and feels confident.

As I said before, I don't think so, in part because the right wing ideologues on the court are much more aware of the precedent they would be creating than he is.

Just as a point of detail, but it would be highly unusual if McConnell had spoken to any of the justices directly. That just isn't done.

Which of course doesn't mean that he doesn't have a very good idea of their views, given the alternative channels that exist.

Ah, must have missed that. Here's hoping!

McConnell just seems far too confident for a man who is making a suicidal gamble without any inside knowledge that SCOTUS will save him.

He also probably could have predicted that Trump would admit it's not really an emergency, a slam dunk which even the SCOTUS could not ignore.

I think that it is more likely than not that SCOTUS never rules on this.

It will be shot down by multiple district courts and the first circuit that hears it, and in the absence of a circuit split, the more likely outcome at that point would be for there not to be five justices in favour of granting cert.

Apparently there only need to be four, not five.

Yes, that’s technically correct, but if you want to overturn the lower court and aren’t reasonably confident that you will, you won’t vote to grant cert.

And Roger Stone has been gagged.

That Rose Garden speech though. He is not right in the head.

That, and he seems to be slurring his speech more than before and rambling, even for him, increasingly more as well.

Speculation on that thread that it was an attempt to get the case moved to another location, which has failed when tried by others.

He's been invited back to court on Thursday to discuss his bail.

Mueller is ready to complete his report by end of next week apparently....

I think that a lot of people have been pinning way too much hope on Mueller for way too long as the Deus Ex Machina who'll somehow save us from this mess. There's a very high probability that they're going to end up very disappointed. And MSNBC is going to have to find another way to try and fill 75% of their airtime and feed their own fever swamp once they have to stop speculating about what imaginary worst case scenarios there might be in the Mueller report.

The lawsuit by the kid from Covington is risible and will be dismissed as soon as a motion to do so is filed.

His parents should get their money back, but I rather hope that they do not.
