    Trump's Card

What gets me is the unnamed aide constantly talking over Trumpo. I'd have thought that's the surest way to end up on the Enemies List when dealing with a maniac elderly child like that. Unless it was Ivanka.

That reads like an old NME interview with some pilled-up early 90s bullshitter musician. Absolute contradictory garbage at every turn.

Yup. Section 4 of the 25th Amendment doesn't define his medical condition beyond "being unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office." Ursus has reckoned this as the best bet to remove him for some time. It'll take Pence and Congress to get the job done though (see below.)

" Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office."

No one cared enough about his speech for Holocaust remembrance to come up with something original, so they plagiarized the US Holocaust Memorial Museum's "Introduction to the Holocaust" page:

President Trump’s Holocaust remembrance remarks use similar wording to the Holocaust Museum website’s “Introduction to the Holocaust” page.

“The Holocaust was the state-sponsored systematic persecution and attempted annihilation of European Jewry by the Nazi regime and its collaborators,” a Monday release from the White House reads.

The museum's introduction page is nearly identical. "The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators," it reads.

Brown? Brown is unusual? What silent letter has the Great White Kirkcaldy Whale hidden from the Great British Public now, eh? Not enough he took all my cash when he broke the world economy, now the Jock twat is hoarding silent letters like a French cunt on his surname.

If they didn't have the balls to stop him getting nominated and elected, which they could have done had they put country before party, there's no way they'll invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment, even if he's walking across the White House lawn with his finger poised over the red button.

I don't think they'll invoke the 25th either, at least not yet. Pence is getting a high public profile though, especially on foreign matters. He also understands how Congress works. As long as Trump never leaves the golf course or oval office, and relies on his VP to do the nitty-gritty stuff he, potentially, becomes more vulnerable to a congressional coup.

But the healthcare bill is needed to pay for the tax cuts. They have successfully tied themselves in knots. They want to repeal, but now they realize they need to keep the coverage through Medicaid (or at least something), though that is where the tax cuts were coming from.

Add to that the crazy boost to military funded by cutting the government to a point that is threadbare... it is going to be tricky to deliver material tax cuts without encountering a place which makes fiscal conservatives real awkward.

Yes, that is feasible - the reform needs to be neutral, though tax cuts can be tax cuts. But given the split across the Republicans I hope some would resist the idea of screaming blue murder about the deficit and then letting the thing go crazy for the sake of tax cuts. Plus it is contrary to Trump's (crazy) pledge to get rid of the whole being in debt situation.

I see the freedom caucus are ok with sending the national debt to the moon. Great.

Cohn and Mnuchin are now bigging up "dynamic scoring", ie tax cuts will pay for themselves, to justify blowing up the deficit, but apparently they can't rely on that for Congressional rules.

The revenue effect of any tax plan would be evaluated under what’s called “dynamic scoring,” which means the impact of the tax policies on economic growth and consumer well-being would be taken into account. The process can be controversial, in that economists use differing models to gauge such outcomes. Mnuchin made clear that Trump administration officials “fundamentally believe in dynamic scoring.”

Cohn also emphasized the importance of dynamic scoring -- saying it might help the administration’s plan avoid the pitfall of expiring after 10 years. “Using dynamic scoring may allow us to get to a permanent solution,” he said.

But if they can contain him on the golf course, that's the more preferable and Reaganesque solution. Why go a step farther and blow it up? Would it help them politically? Trump isn't popular nationally but he owns their base. His approval rating as of a couple days ago was an astonishing 42%, which is a lot of votes.
No it wouldn't help them now, as I said amendment 25 is a down-the-line possibility. However, for whatever reason, Trump doesn't like travel, nor talking to politicians. He hasn't visited another country yet, nor has appeared in public in any US states where he doesn't have overwhelming support. Outside his immediate family he doesn't appear to trust any of his appointees for very long. He's clearly uncomfortable in the environment he's found himself in, which makes him increasingly isolated and dangerous. At some point, either constitutionally (Am 25), or informally (Kushner?) a surrogate is likely to take his place.

Short of a staffer catching them inflagrante in the Prez's bed though, can't see it flying. She'd probably have to testify against him for any accusations to have legs otherwise, and I'm guessing she'd put up with his wandering hands if the pay-off was a Trump Trump ticket in 2020 or whatever else she's in this for (to get massively, Yeltsin daughter rich, I'd imagine - though being next Prez/VP reduces the chances of having all the lovely money back)

US imposes a 20%+ duty on Canadian lumber. The US lumber lobby has claimed for years that the Canadian industry is government subsidised, however a NAFTA arbitration panel has ruled on three occasions that countervailing US duties are out of order. The timber industry is Canada's biggest employer. A third of the wood used in the US construction industry comes from here. This is gonna get tasty.
