Worth sharing ( not that it will make much difference...)

And now he's congratulated the Chiefs and "The Great State of Kansas" on their Superbowl® win.

I'm with Trump on that. Load of old nonsense.

I've just looked up Teapot Dome on otf's favourite online resource

            https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teapot_Dome_scandal

“Fall attempted to keep his actions secret, but the sudden increase in his standard of living was suspect”

There is one in Kansas. It is just not where the Chiefs play.

Kansas City, Kansas is smaller, poorer and blacker than its Missouri counterpart across the river.

That makes it sillier, not less silly.

There's part of me that thinks that just because the administration of Kansas Cities is split doesn't mean the city is really split - it's a bit like claiming Buda and Pest or Southwark and Westminster are different cities. It's the same urban area the developed around the confluences of Kansas and Missouri rivers.

Trump remains obviously a plonker for congratulating the "state of Kansas", although in his list of sins this one seems more like a distraction than a real thing.

That's true, but it is also the case that residential segregation and the importance of state law in everyday life have meant that one's lived experience on each side of the river is very different.

Like East St. Louis, Illinois, Kansas City, Kansas was used as a black ghetto for decades, as well as somewhere where gambling, prostitution and drug dealing were tolerated/encouraged. That pattern of "zoning sin" is not unusual in this country - see, for instance, the Kentucky shore of the Ohio across from Cincinnati.

So Trump gave the Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh *at* the State of the Union address and refused to shake hands with Speaker Pelosi who tore his speech in half on national TV right after it was over and fake outrage ensued. Sounds about right.

I know his policies have done things that have caused actual human misery and death, but the Limbaugh moment just seems like such a low point to me. It's just appalling.

You can tell it was his idea

There is some evidence that Jared and Parscale are trying to peel off enough suburban women and POC to potentially make a difference in the Rust Belt, but as their boss only responds to mindless adulation, he can't help himself from playing the hits to the base.

Yeah, that commercial during the Super Bowl about criminal justice reform was chilling.

That commercial felt like satire. It was insane. Particularly as it was nothing to do with policy and was a single pardon.

I am amazed. Well done, Mitt. That also makes it non-partisan in both houses.

He was always the most likely. Utah is different, largely because of the dominance of the LDS Church and the ubiquity of the mission experience (and the role of migrants in the church).

Now watch Manchin or Jones go and ruin it.

Jones said that he's voting to convict (on both counts). Sinema and Manchin are the two you need to look out for, particularly Manchin.

Romney should provide some helpful cover for Sinema.

Manchin will always be a snake.

To be fair to Manchin, if he wasn't a vile snake he wouldn't have got elected in the first place in WV and we'd have 54 Republican senators.
