As I said before, I don't think so, in part because the right wing ideologues on the court are much more aware of the precedent they would be creating than he is.
Just as a point of detail, but it would be highly unusual if McConnell had spoken to any of the justices directly. That just isn't done.
Which of course doesn't mean that he doesn't have a very good idea of their views, given the alternative channels that exist.Last edited by ursus arctos; 15-02-2019, 16:52.

McConnell just seems far too confident for a man who is making a suicidal gamble without any inside knowledge that SCOTUS will save him.
He also probably could have predicted that Trump would admit it's not really an emergency, a slam dunk which even the SCOTUS could not ignore.Last edited by Satchmo Distel; 15-02-2019, 17:05.

I think that it is more likely than not that SCOTUS never rules on this.
It will be shot down by multiple district courts and the first circuit that hears it, and in the absence of a circuit split, the more likely outcome at that point would be for there not to be five justices in favour of granting cert.

I've long maintained that there is evidence of progressive cognitive decline.

I think that a lot of people have been pinning way too much hope on Mueller for way too long as the Deus Ex Machina who'll somehow save us from this mess. There's a very high probability that they're going to end up very disappointed. And MSNBC is going to have to find another way to try and fill 75% of their airtime and feed their own fever swamp once they have to stop speculating about what imaginary worst case scenarios there might be in the Mueller report.
