I think his point was more that things weren't much better under Obama.

Looks like black People are safer under trump...
I'd argue his point was that black people are safer under Trump.

“The capacity of an elected politician to do anything good in the US is limited, but it seems that the ability to do harm is limitless.”
That's difficult to say without fifty years of hindsight.

Historians in fifty years from now might look back and say that the system of obstructionist checks and balances in the US stopped Trump from becoming the new Adolf Hitler. The Dems take the house and he can't pass any laws. All he can do is hope Ginsburg dies so he can stick some jock on the court.

The Democrats are going to obliterate Obamacare, according to orange face.

Black people are definitely not safer under Trump. What has probably done as much as anything is the presence of BLM and the pressure on police forces after shootings. The chances of a cop getting convicted are still vanishingly small, but at least you'll probably lose your job and that may have a chilling effect.

TG raises some good points, but I'm not sure how Gillum runs on primarily black issues in a state where 16.1% of the population is black. Insofar as he is running on some universal issues, I think he's been clearly to the left of Obama, and that is good for black people because universal benefits seems to be the best way to ensure black people get included in the welfare state.

Invest in education for whom and at what level?
as for minimum wage -jam tomorrow (possibly)
Everything is jam tomorrow if he isn't elected. If he is, hold him accountable. Dems need to be primaried far more than they are. Hopefully AOC and the Berniecrats keep doing that.

Weed arrests and especially felony weed arrests have fallen through the floor in CA. Are people of colour, especially black people, still disproportionately being arrested? Yes, but that is still putting fewer people in prison (especially as many felonies were reclassified to misdemeanors). That's good. Doesn't fix the problem of racist policing directly, but if you starve them of crimes to put people away for, that will help.

Gillum wants to invest in public schools and use weed taxes to raise the minimum teacher salary to 50K. That's good for elementary and secondary education, and probably good for a disproportionate amount of black families if the old saw of black people being disproportionately represented in government employment is true in FL.

It'll be a miracle if Stacey Abrams wins. Kemp is doing everything he can to rig this in his favor.

Hmm...long line of people waiting outside of the polling location to vote, you could see inside an auditorium that was almost empty, and the tweet said that no power cords had been provided for the voting machines. Perhaps that was inaccurate.

So, if the Senate results end up broadly in line with polling, will the Republicans still have the edge in the Electoral College?

Presumably, after the results come in, it will indicate the likely 2020 outcome in the swing states.

                                To expand

Correlation between Senate results and Presidential results two years later is very weak at best.

Several swing states don’t have contested Senate seats up this cycle.

The key GOP advantage in the Electoral College stems from the over-representation of less populated and more rural states

Yes, don't give the minorities the chance to spoil the outcome you want.

When they say only a handful of states close in 45 minutes, what's the timetable for the night?

RNC spokespeople are trying to spin a Democratic house with narrow control as a win for the GOP. Sounds like they're pretty pessimistic of their chances.

There was a similar thing with Trump trying to spin an expected defeat on election night two years ago. So I wouldn't much in to that, Inca.
