The leader of the opposition Tories in New Zealand has likened himself to Barack Obama (Financial Times interview). The similarities are: it's election year in NZ, and, um ... well, that's pretty much it.

Anyway, there must be quite a bit of this around, so if you spot any attempts in your part of the world by aspiring politicos to catch the Obama tide, feel free to share here. Bonus points if they claim to be John McCain ("I was stuck in the lift for over 12 hours, and the experience made me the man I am today ...).

So what's the crack with Barack? Is he going to walk this election, or are we all just dumb foreigners who've been sucked in by the hype-machine, and come election day, we'll be mopping up our tears with our 'Obama is my homeboy' t-shirts, as McCain romps to victory on a wave of Hard-line Military Intervention promises?
