Census 2016 - End of the Boom

The Irish population continues to grow, reaching a new peak of 4.75m, but the era of immigration is over, with net emigration of 28,000, reflective of the recession. The Greater Dublin population continues to soar by comparison to the west, but only Donegal, Mayo and Sligo record decreases. We have to wait longer for the juicier stats, such as nationality, language and religion.

Perhaps, but anecdotally at least, the Poles are returning to their own growing economy, we shall see if the stats bear out that perception.
