He's looking more like his dad now. What a surprise seeing Allison Pearson shilling her pen to this bullshit.

            You are so fucked.

At least the Barclay Brothers have a clear personal financial interest in a Johnson-led Brexit.

Are the Beeb doing this because they think that he's good for ratings? Don't they see where that mindset got the US?

                Hang on!

Newsnight invites a selection of journalists to go through the next day's newspaper headlines at the end of each night's programme and the comment was from the Daily Mirror's Political Editor, no fan of BoJo one assumes. She'd covered Johnson's time as Mayor of London quite closely and said that people responded well to his optimism and that he did a good job of promoting London on the world stage, but then went on to criticise his claims about his house-building and crime reduction records whilst in office.

She used to work for the Standard which gave Johnson a weelkly handjob- he employed precious editor on a sinecure for 90 grand whilst sarah Sands was a co-conspirator on Johnson‘s criminal gardenbridge. Evgeny lLebedev Standard owner and son of a former KGB man in the London Office was chair the Garden Bridge Trust. He offered the editorship to Johnson before giving it to George Osborne.

and yet the BBC decided to quote her on twitter as if she were still at the Standard. QED.

Cheryl Gillan, the joint acting chairman of the 1922 Committee, is now reading out the results.

All 313 Tory MPs voted, she says. There were no spoilt ballot papers.

                                    Boris Johnson - 114

                                    Jeremy Hunt - 43

                                    Michael Gove - 37

                                    Dominic Raab - 27

                                    Sajid Javid - 23

                                    Matt Hancock - 20

                                    Mark Harper - 10

                                    Rory Stewart - 19

                                    Esther McVey - 9

                                    Andrea Leadsom - 11

All rather like a papal conclave , but who will the supporters of the eliminated candidates gravitate towards?

Leadsom and McVey's will go to Johnson, surely? As for the members of Mark Harper's family who must account for those who voted for him, I don't really know.

I've not been following this thread but had clung to the idea than Johnson would be prevented from making the final two but looking at the numbers above I can't see that being at all possible now. We're fucked, he's in.

Yeah, that's my conclusion too. 199 against even if none of them switch to Johnson isn't enough to keep him off the final 2 if he's got 114 supporters .

Historically, numbers can go down as well as up. But I share the general pessimism.

He's reportedly got quite the intimidatory campaign going behind him, with accounts of MPs being asked to photograph their ballot papers to prove they've voted for the scumbag.

Let’s find a bright side - if his numbers don’t go much above this from here, it suggests that 2/3 of the Conservative MPs will never reconcile themselves to his leadership. Useful chaos.

That’s been reasonably standard for Tories since 1990.
