Most of OTF will be devastated that the Beautiful South haven't been blown out to sea by Hurricane Housemartin's Indie landfill.

So the first storm to be named has hit Scotland, storm Abigail.
The weather warning has been raised to Amber, presumably with potential to rise to Audrey.

The Hebrideans will be pishing themselves laughing that weather they describe as "a wee bit draughty" has been given an official storm name.

Hurricane Nigel is polite and works in accounting. He will occasionally pop around your house for a cup of tea.

It's Hurricanes Roger, Janice, Paul, Godfrey, and Douglas that you need to worry about!

Nah. Scratch Douglas. Make it Hurricane David!

Hurricane Quo should be an easy one to prepare for. It'll repeat the formula of the previous dozen or so Hurricanes.

My expectation of Waylon is of a banjo player in Tennessee.

Right now, I'm 30 feet from the atlantic. Thankfully the wind is blowing from a slightly different direction so the sea isn't smashing through the front wall, but we've basically all taken to our beds like Medieval European Peasants in the hope that when we wake the storm will be over.

The wind isn't too bad, it's only 75 miles per hour, which isn't even in the top three storms this year. The problem with this fucker is the four inches of rain it's supposed to dump on us in a 36 hour period. The average december rainfall in this part of Ireland is four inches, so as you can imagine, that's a hell of a lot of rain

It's not looking too good for Keswick, already being described as worse than 2009 and there's about 12 hours more rain due yet. It's overtopped the post-2009 flood defences by the sounds of it.
