    No wonder 40 doesn't feel as old as it used to

    More people in the UK are aged over 40 than under it

    This can't have ever been the case before in history, except maybe for in the immediate aftermath of World War One.

    I wonder what knock-on effects this also has in things like how politicians, companies and media outlets market and target their output/messages/programming, when "the youth" are deemed to be in their mid-thirties.

    To my knowledge, the average age in Germany has been over 40 for a good 15 years now.

    In the sparsely-populated bits of eastern Germany, where all the young people up and leave as soon as they can, it's over 45. But even in Hamburg (where many of the young eatern Germans ended up), it's something like 42.
