Listening to the Radio 4 newspaper review (in itself a bit of media navel gazing, I suppose), I noticed that they gave about a cursory minute to income inequality then extended commentaries on the TV political debates, literary festivals, Benedict Cumberbatch reading Alan Turing's letters and the worth of emails. This week, of course, the Clarkson fracas has been nearly at the top of the headlines every day as has the Williams/Thicke/Gaye debacle.
I doubt whether Radio 4 has been any worse than the rest of the media. Have the media really not got the self awareness to see that they are concentrating on matters that are of great interest to them but not everyone else? Vuanatu will probably get a weekend's worth of coverage and it will be back to Clarkson et al next week.
