    Never happened.

    The Tees was only ever tidal up as far as Yarm, and, since the creation of the barrage, isn't even that any more.

    Shouldn't this be in sport?

    (There were a few of the things you mean around Stirlingshire, and slightly more north IIRC, about 30 years ago. Dunno why I mentioned, but it gives credence to your stretchy thread title. x)

                    My uncle has a croft in Ross-shire, but he's far from boring - the sheer number of coastguard stories he has (he's a volunteer, operates the winch in the helicopter) mitigates against that.
