      It's a funny old life.
      Funny as in weird.

Check out the Hitler-related story below the main feature.
      It's got the lot.

"It's not offensive, it's just what local people call it."
Oh, well that's okay then. It wasn't offensive when my gran called Brazil nuts 'nigger toes'. It's just what she called 'em.

Mr Daniel said it had been "political correctness gone mad" to remove the sign, which does not have an apostrophe.
          That made my day.

Don't mean to come across as unfeeling, but - that gentleman was only 51? Really?

Viz the 'Hitlers Walk' (sic) story - well, good old Middle England once again. You'd think that having lived through the bloody war, some of these people might just see what the fuss was about, eh?

I've always considered the whole ash-scattering business twee nonsense but this is an excessive price to pay for being twee.

Weird that was the best (only?) photo the family could provide of him.

Given they could have scattered the ashes any time, why did he go down to the strand in a gale? Conspicuously absent in that story is any mention of him not having anything to drink before he tried it.

Yeah, why do we even bother with funerals or wakes, eh? Ceremonious nonsense.

In fact, why even bother remembering our dead relatives at all?

They claim the road is not named after Adolf Hitler, but after an "overzealous local park warden" who was around in the 1930s.
                          link to article

locals say the two have never been seen together.

And was it necessary to accompany the story with two pictures of Hitler ? Just in case anyone doesn't know what he looked like ?

The second one there looks like something from a teen mag.

                          So bizarre.

Essentially the same argument the people of Mevagissey offered Cornwall's Jewish community.

I can't remember what the tenuous connection was but Wales On Sunday once illustrated a story about an upcoming Jools Holland tour with one picture of him and one of Hitler and the captions, Hitler: bombs....Holland: pianos, which seemed a little harsh on TV's Mr Boogie-woogie.

I was referring to criticism of Alanis Morissette's grasp of English. Unless you consider Ms Morissette to be as bad as Adolf Hitler.

                                  Maybe not Hitler.
                                  Mengele, maybe.

In a similar vein to WOM, a friend of mine was mortified curtain shopping with her grandmother a while back when the old dear inquired if they had similar drapes in 'nigger brown'.

                                      Just buy a distressed t-shirt.
                                      It'll be cheaper.
