            The police aren't stupid.

            Just a little slow.

            https://www.theguardian.com/law/2017/feb/02/stop-and-search-police-unacceptably-slow-to-comply-with-new-rules

Four police forces have made “unacceptably slow progress” to comply with government rules aimed at eliminating discrimination in stop and search, a report has found.

An emergency special inspection by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary found that forces in Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire were still breaking the rules when visited in November 2016.
            South Yorks, eh? Who'da thunk!

Christ. Cressida Dick appointed new Met commissioner

"In 2002, no innocent Brazilians were shot dead on the Tube. In 2003, no innocent Brazilians were shot dead on the Tube. In 2004, no innocent Brazilians were shot dead on the Tube. In 2005, some one was shot dead on the Tube. In 2006, no innocent Brazilians were shot dead on the Tube. In 2007, no innocent Brazilians were shot dead on the Tube. I mean I could go on…"

She was in charge of Special Ops for 4 years after John Yates bolted, which seems pretty jarring. Maybe not too many got killed then, or something. Though Duggan got shot in her first month.

Well, this appointment'll discourage the Met's trigger-happy cops from shooting first and thinking later, won't it?

Dick shouldn't even be a police officer anymore, let alone the most senior one in the land.

                  Beyond fucking parody.

                          They just can't help themselves
The Home Office's Investigatory Powers Unit (HOIPU) anonymously responded to an Ofcom consultation urging the regulator to maintain a "security"-related ban on GSM devices that let consumers get cheap calls abroad.

I know the man by sight, and am on speaking terms with some of his mates.

But this level of incompetence and complete lack of any remorse or care for their actions beggars belief

Met Police withhold evidence causing collapse of rape trial. Shit like this totally undermines legitimate rape prosecutions and merely adds to the voices saying that the accused should be given anonymity.

30 more pending cases will now have to be reviewed, and no doubt a large number of previous convictions.
