Just went round to repair someone's boiler. Taking the case off necessitated washing my hands twice because the casing was so cooked in old cooking grease. Then when I had got the casing off the insides were full of mouse shit.

I made my excuses and left.

I don't need the money that badly. Anyway, the thing is I'm only doing this stuff part time - evenings and weekends. Considering the state of that boiler there was every probability that the steps necessary to repare it would have meant other parts of the boiler breaking or failing. So what ought to be a two hour job could quite possibly become a 6-hour job, meaning either working into the small hours, or losing an entire day of my weekend. Like I say, I don't need the money, to say nothing of the hassle (and exposure to disease).
