He seems to have massively misjudged his abilities. Even if we imagine that Trump died in 2021 and this field were wide open, I suspect someone with more charisma (maybe one who is currently lying low and waiting for 2028) would have stepped in and beaten him.Comment

About a year ago I read an article about thiel (It might have been on here,) but the thing that struck me about him was aside from his terrifying lack of empathy, was that if he was half as clever as he thought he was, he'd know how little he knew about things. He certainly wouldn't be saying things like we haven't really invented anything new since the late 19th century, and held up as an example that the f-35 wasn't as fast as an F-4 from the mid 1950's as signs of technological stagnation.
I struggle to see him finding someone who has broad appeal. I get the impression that thiel doesn't have the first idea what that would be like.Comment

I think it’s safe to assume that whoever is the Republican nominee is going to fit that description perfectly well. I’m sure it’s really not worth the effort of investing much hope in an alternative outcome from the GOP electorate.
And given 2016, I don’t even think it’s worth investing much hope in them picking the person we think is least electable.
It’s better to just watch is as pure comedy spectator sport and to laugh at them, because what else can you do?Comment
