Apparently one of the more onerous things they're protesting is the purchase limit of 1 handgun per person per month.

That seems like he was not keen on the office "banter".

Is it true that last month was the first March with no school shootings in the US since 2002?

There are always definitional issues with that kind of question, but the Everytown database has two shootings resulting in death on campuses during March 2020

Thanks. I wouldn't have "college" as "school" but I know different people use different words in different places at different times. Still, there was someone killed at Atascocita High School in Humble, TX. But the kid killed was 19, so, yeah, definition - were they school students?

It appears that both the victim and the prime suspect were former students

Former students wouldn't count, for me. If I were counting. But anyway, how horrible, poor kid. Poor kids, as it goes.

I would agree with all of that.

One of the reasons that is very difficult to have a meaningful conversation about gun violence in the US is that there is a very active effort on the part of anti-gun control forces to restrict both the collection of dissemination of data, which in turn has led to a number of different ad hoc research groups trying to fill the gap, each of which can use different definitions and rely on different sources

This is really an unbelievable story. The more you read, the weirder it gets. The shooter was 51, but had a lifelong obsession with the RCMP. To the point where he collected uniforms, guns, and most importantly old police cars bought at auction. On the day of the shooting, he was driving a letter-perfect replica of an RCMP-spec Ford Taurus which he'd obviously put together in his garage. Most of the victims were pulled over by who they thought was an RCMP officer on patrol and then shot. Others were shot in their homes, and then the homes were torched.

This guy was affluent, with a small chain of denture clinics. But he was also apparently a heavy drinker and a bit....something. Distant. Odd. Not quite level. I'm sure we'll be finding out in the weeks to come that he'd applied to the RCMP and been rejected a few times over the years.

Let's hope Trudeau moves quickly on the gun thing.

                                          Two year implementation period

As if anyone needed further evidence of the differences between the US and Canada, this can be done without legislation

Not without some complaining though "The government is destroying an entire industry. 14,000 people will be be out of work!" Says Doug from Canmore.

Good for him. Immediate implementation, too, so the idiots can't go out and stockpile. The two year implementation is for existing owners to get rid of them.

So the US can invade Canada in May 2022 then?

The US will need to invade Canada to liberate Canada's citizens from the tyranny of their government.
