    What isn't currently being reported?

So, in the ten days of "mourning" there's a perfect opportunity for news to slip under the radar.

What is happening in the UK and the world that I can't find out about because it's all currently hidden under a shrouded black blanket of fawning royal stories?

Well, a third of Pakistan was waist deep in water on Thursday morning, and I doubt the Russians have dropped arms out of respect for Her Late Majesty.

The advances by Ukrainian forces into territory held by Russia isn't being widely reported.

People have stopped talking about energy bills and there has been hardly any discussion of Liz Truss's plan outlined on Wednesday.

Imran Khan is in a spot of legal bother.

BBC World Service is still reporting actual news in its hourly bulletins but I don't know if Radio 4 is doing the same.

Some stuff on Ukraine is filtering through. This is currently the second most read story on the BBC news site despite it being buried under all the photos of her majesty as a child: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-62867560

But good point on Pakistan. I no longer have any idea what's happening there.

This is the latest I can find on Pakistan on the BBC world news Asia section: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-62811704

Edit: but it's from three days ago.

What isn't being reported is anything short of fawning and metaphorical falling on knees in front of anything monarchial.

Which in turn means that when Parliament is allowed to return after the funeral, there will be a handful of days available to debate it before 1 October when it is intended to start, and it'll be rushed through at indecent pace.

The BBC seems to think that absolutely nothing is happening in Africa, besides false nostalgic reminiscing about its relationship with the Queen.

This is quite an interesting article on the EU's joint approach to the energy crisis, and the invitation that's been extended to the UK to join, which will likely be roundly ignored: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-62822368

There are reports that Tigrayan armed forces are seeking a peace settlement in Ethiopia.

There's growing evidence that street use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is linked to a rise in spinal and neurological injuries in adolescents and young adults.

There has been a rise in "spearphishing" where new employees receive scam texts "from" the company CEO. This is probably due to scammers monitoring LinkedIn to identify when people start at companies.

The neo nazi party became the second biggest party in parliament in Sweden's election yesterday, and will possibly govern in coalition with other right wing parties

I was kind of waiting for that to happen. It's a symptom of Russia no longer being able to act as the external strong man keeping its favoured proxies in power. You've got to feel for the Armenians, though - they were forced into the relationship with Russia because the other regional power is Turkey, and Armenia has, erm, some history with Turkey.

Currently the two most read stories on the BBC website are:

Putin does not see Ukraine war as mistake
                                                  and

Asda limits sales of budget range items

Methinks the fawning masses might be getting a bit sick of wall-to-wall Queenie coverage. Dare I hope that the overblown response will put people off the idea of monarchy entirely?
