No, I meant… like in every film where a spy/thief/detective/whatever is pulled back into the old racket for one last job, it never goes smoothly.

The joke isn’t worth much if one has to explain it

I got it, but I’m afraid I’m a bit late to the thread. I’m seeing Ellen Barkin in the role.

          That’s a good choice.

Possibly rather late, but the ob-gyn doesn’t themself do many of the things in Balder’s post, but refers the patient to a specialist just like her physician does, but they are the primary medic for all things specifically female.
My wife had a male ob-gyn after she lost her job and moved onto my health insurance, recommended by our neighbour. That didn’t go great, mostly as he didn’t really seem to be paying attention, so she switched to an all-female practice which was much better. I don’t recall who she had before.
The hospital where my daughter was born called in the wrong doctor for my daughter’s birth. She (the doctor) was not at all happy with the nursing staff for this, but great with my wife and I. I don’t understand how this is a better system than having people on staff at the hospital, it’s not like it was a small one that only saw a birth once in a blue moon.
I agree with Balders’ thoughts on a family ob-gyn.

I've been there. It is especially hard to recount the history during a depressive episode I find. But as hard as it is, it is still really important to seek help when you need it. I hope you are able to do that soon.

I read something about this in an article on the BBC website today: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_Dog_affair

Amelia Earhart flew from Hawaii to the mainland in 1935.

The Mitsubishi Zero in Billy Bragg's 'Sexuality' is a warplane not a car.

Famously used in the attack on Pearl Harbor in the hundreds, with the association (as familiar to USian boys as Stukas or Messerschmidts to Brits) supposedly a major reason why they delayed introducing automobiles in the US for decades (and were unsuccessful when they did).

Did they start by using the Colt brand name, like get did in the UK?

Colt was a model, but the term is much too closely associated with firearms here for it to work as a marque

                          Before they were the Astros

Mitsubishis first snuck in as rebadged Chrysler subcompacts called Dodge Colt and Plymouth Cricket.

The first plane kit that I ever built was a Mitsubishi Zero. I think that it was a Frog one.

I knew all about the Mitsubishi Zero from various war comics and Commando books. They were the ME-109s of the war in the Pacific and Asia.

Film director Michael Mann tried to tempt Charles Haid and Michael Warren away from Hill Street Blues with an offer of a Renko/Bobby Hill spinoff show. HSB kept them with an offer of more money and bigger storylines. Mann didn't give up on his idea of white Southerner/ black New Yorker cop partners, and wrote Miami Vice instead.

Interesting. Conversely Messerschmidt bubble cars were sold in the UK in the late 50s/early 60s.

A lot of firms who collaborated with the Nazis got a free ride when WW2 gave way to the Cold War. IBM spring to mind (see Edwin Black's book).

But I'm not sure if the Japanese ever got a free ride from that process.

Isetta — which was a more successful 'Bubble Marque' — was a German (BMW) product too. Maybe the fact they didn't flaunt it helped. It did —sort of — look like a car too, in that it had a steering wheel. The Messerschmidt was a sort of enclosed motorbike. On reflection this made it look rather like the cockpit on a small plane. Hmmmm...

Was it badged differently in the UK?

TBH I don't recall. It was always referred to as Isetta though, and I never saw any other BMW's as kid.

William Orbit produced Harry Enfield's novelty hit Loadsamoney (Doin' Up The House) , under a pseudonym.

Sue Jones-Davies, Judith in Life of Brian, later became the Mayor of Aberystwyth. Actually, the two then intersected:

Upon taking the office, she was informed that the town had banned Life of Brian and prohibited it for nearly 30 years because of her nude scene. It subsequently emerged that although Ceredigion county councillors had reviewed the film in 1981, and found parts "quite unacceptable", they did not officially ban it. She sponsored a charity screening

A contributory factor to Scott losing his race with Amundsen to the Antarctic was too much underwear. His party had full length cotton long-johns, with woolen shirts, and anoraks over the top. Their perspiration froze inside it and their was no way to launder anything. It must have been unbelievably uncomfortable, not to mention unhygienic. Amundsen's crew wore only loose fitting animal skins turned inside out. They could move freely and the fur against their skin never froze.

1981 seems a bit late to review a film released two years earlier. It was out on video by then.
