Quite likely the worst thing I've ever driven was a Ford Festiva, which was a rebadged Daewoo of some kind. It was a rental in Florida and it felt like I was risking my life. It had a three banger that could easily have been mistaken for simply wind powered.

God. When I lived in Wellington I used to love strolling around outside Parliament there and always appreciated that the seat of government was so accessible. Now the whole space is full of fascists, fantasists, racists, narcissists and conspiracy peddlers as a consequence.

Now that this is over the next several weeks/months will reverberate with post-game analysis. Before it starts it's worth pointing there was no serious violence at any time, which can only be a good thing whichever "side" one happens to be on. However, based on on-site streeters, the lack of civic awareness by many of the "occupiers" was jaw-dropping. They were shocked/surprised, not angry or even upset, just hurt that their individual "rights" didn't trump the declared state of emergency. The educational system in this country clearly needs a major work-over. Basic courses in civics, critical thinking and personal and collective rights/responsibilities need to be added urgently.
Edit: Very much in tune with posted link above

Yeah. Good piece.
This is of some relevance too. Though it locates the primary responsibility in Western dissatisfaction as usual.
