My wife is her Principal's defacto VP, and I'm my boss's 'right hand man'. Fortunately, neither of us is bothered in the least having to answer the odd after-hours email or take a weekend phone call to chew over an idea or issue with them. Others, with rigid boundaries around work-life, would obviously be miserable. But frankly we're fine with it.
