I worked in D&G for many years and it's a big deal in those parts, particularly in Dumfries itself of course.

In recent years they have had "The Big Burns Supper", a week long series of music and other arts events, which is mainly in Dumfries but has an offshoot in Carlisle as well. It's subsidised up the wazoo of course, but it brings acts to the area that wouldn't usually make it to these parts and generally a Good Thing. It's online this year, reduced to the one night (tonight) hosted by Janey Godley.

We would normally go to the very well attended Scout & Guide fundraiser in the local hall but obvs couldn’t so settled for home made ‘haggis, neep & tattie’ balls in a lovely cheese sauce. Delicious but nae drink and nae shagging so not really a traditional Burns Nicht.
