Why should they? They’ve outlived their usefulness.

Thought this was quite good on why are supermarket shelves in NI empty.

The Unionists could have stopped this but instead have inflicted on themselves a total self-shafting.

The shelves are empty in NI, and so is the fish market in Peterhead...

Never mind eh? Just think of all those happy BRITISH fish out there in the sea.

Agreed. As that article mentions, 60% of goods into NI come from Britain, with the South, other EU and ROTW having about 15% each. In time that balance will change but in the meantime food shortages, price hikes and closure of Brit supermarkets is likely

Meanwhile Gavin Robinson (one of the younger DUP MPs) has told the media that unionism should recognise things are changing (which the Irish News has as 'should prepare for a border poll'. But as journo and ex SDLP councilor Brian Feeney says nobody knows what a UI would look like- largely because because successive Southern govts have done nothing to prepare for it

It'll be a fucking mess. Till Brexit United Ireland was like "lord make me pure, but not yet" for the non Shinner parties down here.

It might be a way to meaningfully devolve power from the pork barrel Parliament here, maybe have province sized "assemblies" and fold the 3 Ulster down under counties into Stormont.

Eamon O Cuiv as First Minister of Connaught is terrifying, but possibly all they deserve.

Lang Spoon 1 Aye a UI but not in my lifetime is no longer a comfort blanket even for geriatric FF and FG

2 Why would Donegal and CM pork barrelers want to waste time at Stormont? There wil likely be a lengthy transition with NIA staying largely unchanged

                          Wrong colour blue, surely?

Should be pantone "a bit darker"?

Nope. No more darker in glorious Brexit Britain.

You get the impression the Irish are gloating. Everything is just so much easier with UK out of the EU.

There is gloating, but it's still harder to get goods here, loads of supply chains used to consider U.K. and Ireland as one market, and it'll take years to sort that out. At a geopolitical level the U.K. was Ireland's main ally against tax harmonisation and the like. Now it's really just the Netherlands as a Swashbuckling Property asset bubble obsessed co-conspirator.

Considering some Brexiteers were threatening to starve us, the embassy can gloat all they want.

That Cork to Roscoff route should become quite busy in the future, considering how short it is...

Being marketed by BF as the 'Brexit Buster'.

Edit to add: It's really popular and pretty much always runs to capacity (about 2000 passengers and 30 trucks) but only been March to October before mainly because of the potential for rough weather.

They had already planned to increase sailings on the route this summer, but have gone early and with bigger capacity vessels.

12-16 hours depending on the ship.

Edit: and whether a day or night (slower) crossing.
